US Military FMTV · Expedition Build · Since 2021
A 6×6 military truck reborn as a self-sufficient expedition vehicle
The Build
Mando started life as a US Army FMTV M1089A1 — a 6×6 wrecker built to operate in the harshest conditions on earth. We stripped the military hardware and rebuilt it as a fully self-sufficient expedition vehicle capable of going anywhere, for as long as needed.
From the Acela Monterra cab to the Globe Trekker living box, every component was chosen for reliability, efficiency, and life far off the grid. With 300 gallons of diesel, 240 gallons of fresh water, and 30 kWh of solar-charged battery power — Mando doesn't need civilization.
Technical Specifications
Power Architecture
Three charging sources feed a 30.72 kWh LiFePO4 battery bank, powering a full split-phase 120/240V electrical system — enough to run air conditioning, induction cooking, laundry, and all expedition systems indefinitely off-grid.
